Project overview

DARTs is a self-service web app with advanced machine learning that enables WFP Country Offices to ensure accurate, accountable cash transfer data and reconciliation.

The problem

In 2022, WFP distributed a historic US$3.26 billion in cash assistance across 72 countries. However, with such large-scale transfers come significant challenges, including limited digital infrastructure, low data literacy, and a variety of partner systems.

The solution

DARTs (Data Assurance and Reconciliation Tool Simplified) is a self-service user-friendly web app backed up by highly sophisticated machine learning modules that enables WFP to implement controls on large cash transfer data and generate reconciliation reports. Reconciliation is vital in cash assistance programs as it promotes accountability to donors, assesses program efficiency, fosters trust, and ensures that the right amount of money goes to the right people at the right time.

The way forward

The solution is in the process of being developed into a global corporate tool, intending to be implemented in approximately 50% of our global CBT operations, spanning around 40 countries.
