On 5 December 2023, Innovation 4 Adaptation: Tackling the Climate and Hunger Emergencie engaged with and supported innovative solutions and approaches for reducing hunger and promoting climate-sensitive food security and climate adaptation measures.
The climate crisis is one of the leading causes of the unprecedented rise in global hunger. Current humanitarian needs will seem small compared to the potential rise if governments fail to tackle climate change now. Innovation is now more critical than ever in developing solutions to adapt and mitigate the impacts of the climate crisis, particularly for vulnerable communities.
It is imperative that WFP and the global community continue to identify, support and scale innovative solutions that focus on the climate crisis, climate adaptation and resilience-building globally.
To that end, Innovation 4 Adaptation: Tackling the Climate and Hunger Emergencies focused on scalable innovations and collective efforts to build sustainable food systems for the future. The event's pitches by innovators and a fireside discussion emphasized the importance of building partnerships to scale innovations and taking action now to adapt to the challenges we face.
