The humanitarian sector has established numerous processes and systems designed to respond effectively to emergencies. However, limited integration among these systems can result in operational challenges and coordination inefficiencies. Additionally, emerging needs call for new solutions that can be difficult to incorporate into existing structures.

AIDONIC is an innovative platform that transforms how humanitarian aid is delivered by combining blockchain, artificial intelligence, and payment aggregation within a secure, GDPR-compliant environment. Designed to empower aid organizations and reduce risk, AIDONIC enhances efficiency and scalability in response efforts. It serves WFP by providing a comprehensive tool for collecting and managing data on local populations, offering photo de-duplication to prevent duplicate records, and allowing recipients to choose their preferred payment method for assistance. As a ready-made solution, AIDONIC can be easily transferred to government management if needed. Its blockchain-based transparency also enables WFP to share traceable, detailed information with donors and other stakeholders, building trust and accountability in the aid process.

As part of WFP’s Food for Crisis initiative, it was tested with WFP Peru to assess how web3 technologies can fortify documentation, verification and protection of cash‑based assistance for migrant communities. 

In Peru, WFP and AIDONIC tested a digital traceability system that securely recorded donation and cash‑assistance transactions while keeping personal data off‑chain. The test showed that the blockchain-based solution can improve data accuracy and confidence in reporting. According to WFP Peru, the proof of concept achieved efficiency gains of 48 percent and cost reductions of more than 25 percent, with improvements for both beneficiaries and backend processes. Over the past few years, AIDONIC has gained global recognition, winning more than 10 international awards for its innovative approach to enhancing aid delivery and accountability.
