Project overview

Visual Artificial Intelligence Solutions (VAIS) is an AI-powered platform for precision agriculture, offering smart irrigation and crop management without sensors. It delivers weather insights, early warnings and disease detection to help farmers worldwide adapt to climate change.

The Challenge

Farmers in Egypt and the Middle East face increasing climate challenges, rising temperatures, erratic rainfall, and extreme weather, resulting in reduced yields and higher pest and disease pressures. Smallholder farmers, who often lack access to advanced technology, are particularly at risk. With millions of smallholders managing approximately 8 million acres in Egypt alone, there is an urgent need for accessible precision agriculture tools to help them adapt to changing growing seasons and support sustainable food production.

The Solution

VAIS provides sensor-free, AI-driven recommendations for irrigation, disease prevention, and crop management. By offering real-time, actionable guidance without the need for expensive hardware, it helps farmers improve yields, manage resources efficiently and build resilience to climate change.

Impact

During their sprint with the WFP Innovation Accelerator, VAIS will adapt FarmGuru for smallholder farmers to deliver insights that boost yields, cut input costs and support sustainability. It is targeting a 15–25 percent reduction in weather-related crop losses, 10–20 percent in disease losses and a 20–30 percent increase in climate-smart awareness.
