Project overview

Greener Herd’s app supports livestock management in the MENA region, offering farmers an all-in-one platform to optimize cattle feed, monitor animal health and access a marketplace for essential supplies.

The Challenge

Climate shocks are reducing farmers’ productivity and putting their livelihoods at risk. In the MENA region, adapting to these challenges is especially difficult for livestock farmers, who often lack the tools and practices needed to improve livestock management. This not only harms pastoralists but also disrupts dependent value chains, such as dairy production.

Solution

Greener Herd’s app aims to transform livestock management in the MENA region by providing farmers with a tool for more sustainable livestock practices. The app includes features such as feed optimization, health management and a marketplace for essential supplies. It is available in Arabic and integrates real-time data analytics and predictive modeling.

Impact

The innovation boosts productivity, profitability, and sustainability—factors that are especially critical for food security and rural livelihoods in the MENA region. Greener Herd plans to collaborate with farmers in Lebanon to pilot the app with dairy livestock pastoralists. In 2024, Greener Herd joined the Techstars accelerator, securing $120,000 in funding. Over the next year, the goal is to onboard 6,000 livestock producers, enhance dairy production, and promote sustainable farming by improving animal health, welfare, and management.
