Project overview

Remer’s bio‑fertilizer Growth improves nutrient availability and stimulates root development, resulting in healthier plants with greater resistance to environmental stresses.

The Problem

Due to climate and economic challenges, farmers in Lebanon are facing high material costs, declining productivity and limiting their access to international exports. Additionally, climate change has led to the emergence of pests, increasing the use of pesticides and chemical fertilizers, which in turn deteriorates soil quality. As a result, the productivity of most agricultural crops has declined, raising the risk of food insecurity.

The Solution

"Growth" is a bio-fertilizer developed by Remer, made from beneficial microorganisms to enhance soil quality and stimulate plant growth. This sustainable solution supports smallholder farmers by improving soil fertility and water retention through natural means, while reducing reliance on pesticides and chemical fertilizers.

Impact

Since 2022, "Growth" has covered 0.36% of Lebanon’s farmland, with 45,900 liters sold to 478 customers. Reducing fertilizer needs by 70%, it lowers costs and increase yield up to 30% in terms of quantity and quality. The venture aims to test their innovative product with Lebanese smallholder farmers of crops in open land to further refine their business and operational model for this customer segment.

In 2025, Remer implemented its initiative in North Lebanon, providing 1,698 smallholder farmers with training and access to the Growth biofertilizer. Through collaboration with the Lebanese Ministry of Agriculture, the team delivered targeted awareness sessions to support farmers in adopting more sustainable agricultural practices.
