Deadline extended! Submit your innovation by 25 September. WFP is looking for innovators who have the right solution to aid the millions of people suffering from hunger.

Let’s end hunger. And let’s do it fast.

That’s the mission of the WFP Innovation Accelerator, in the words of US NPR. And that’s right. At the Accelerator, we are looking for the boldest innovations out there, no matter where you are in the world. Whether you are sitting in an innovation lab in Germany or in a refugee camp in Algeria, we know that you have what it takes to push your creative boundaries and design a solution for Zero Hunger.

Take action.

Submit your innovation by 25 September (deadline extended) to receive up to USD 100,000 in funds to test your project in the field, mentorship and hands-on support from industry experts to adapt your solution, and access to WFP global operations to deliver impact at scale. Selected teams will also get a chance to participate in the next WFP Innovation Bootcamp and Sprint Programme to take their project to the next level.

Innovation at WFP

WFP staff work day in and day out to reach the millions of people who live in harsh conditions and do not know where their next meal is coming from. This month, during the 2018 WFP Innovation Challenge, they have been putting in extra hours to come up with the next innovation that could put an end to hunger once and for all. Applying methodologies from Silicon Valley, such as lean start-up and human-centered design, WFP employees are designing their ideas so that they too can apply to the WFP Innovation Accelerator.

From high-tech, futuristic technologies to revolutionising age-old solutions, the WFP Innovation Accelerator supports the boldest innovations for food security coming from both within and outside the organization. Check out the projects submitted in previous years that are already changing the lives of people in Chad, Colombia, Jordan, Kenya, and many other countries.

Learn about Dalili, a smartphone app to improve refugees shopping experience and help them make the most of their WFP entitlements; or find out more about Building Blocks, a project testing blockchain technology to save on bank fees and make WFP cash transfers more secure, effective and efficient.

Your innovation could be next. It’s time. Apply today.
