Project overview

EYouth provides learning and training opportunities for refugees and host communities through their AI-based tech learning platform.

The challenge

The Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region is home to over 100 million young people between 18 and 35. The region experiences the highest global rate of youth unemployment, at 55 percent, and faces the challenges of food insecurity.

The solution

EYouth aims to promote employment in the MENA region by providing learning and training opportunities for young people in need of jobs through their AI-based tech solution:

Step 1: Skill Building for Sustainable Livelihoods

The Capacity Building Training addresses the unemployment challenges faced by refugees and host communities in Egypt by equipping them with essential skills to enhance their employability, ensuring stable income to support their families. Interactive content on the EYouth website facilitates course access, enabling EYouth to monitor participation and progression, while also gathering feedback and tracking hiring outcomes.

Step 2: Targeted Recruitment and Customized Learning

EYouth initiates an outreach campaign, leveraging marketing channels and the comprehensive database, to call for applications. Through a rigorous screening process, the EYouth team carefully selects candidates who align closely with the objectives of the program. Upon successful screening, participants undergo an AI-assisted assessment. Subsequently, they embark on a tailored learning journey aimed at developing the specific skills needed for seamless integration into the labor market

Step 3: Holistic Progression to Employment

The post-training assessment serves to gauge participants' progress, emphasizing skill acquisition. Graduates are then matched with private sector opportunities through a thorough selection process. Payment and expenses are streamlined via 'Fawry payment' cards, simplifying financial transactions and ensuring participants' smoother integration into the workforce.Eyouth event

Impact Egypt

EYouth implemented a first pilot in Egypt to promote employment for refugees and host communities by providing learning and training opportunities for young people in need of jobs through their AI-based tech solution. As a result, the venture reached 517 people with the core 3-month training programme (41% refugees) and 2,200 people with the one-day training programme (35% refugees). Additionally, 120 people were connected with jobs and hired from partner companies in blue-collar and white-collar jobs with an average salary of 23% more than the minimum Egyptian salary.

Impact Iraq

To further refine its offering for youth, EYouth performed a second pilot in Iraq to address the limited access to employment opportunities for Iraqi youth, particularly those who have already participated in the Jousour training programme. As a result, 1400 students were trained with 59% female participants. Furthermore, 92 jobs were secured for job-placement opportunities for the participants. Through the online capacity-building training in Arabic, English and Kurdish and connecting students to job opportunities, the EYouth aimed to enhance the participant's skills, knowledge, and access to the job market, ultimately supporting their economic and social integration.

"This online training and job-matching is a game-changer for the Iraqi youth who have already taken the first step by participating in the Jousour program. By equipping them with additional skills and directly connecting them to employers, we are empowering these young people to take control of their economic futures. The integrated website will be a one-stop-shop, making it easier than ever for them to access the training they need and find the right job opportunities. We're excited to see the positive impact this project will have on the lives of 2,300 deserving Iraqi youth."
